Medical
Education Online: An Electronic Journal
Medical Education Online (MEO) is a forum for disseminating information
on educating physicians and other health professionals. Manuscripts on
any aspect of the process of training health professionals will be considered
for peer-reviewed publication in an electronic journal format. In addition
to manuscripts, MEO provides a repository for resources such as curricula,
data sets, syllabi, software, and instructional material developers wish
to make available to the health education community. MEO also posts informational
messages and links to World Wide Web sites of interest to health science
educators.
Medical
Education
Medical Education provides an authoritative medium for the rapid
publication of high quality research papers and review articles in the
field of medical education throughout the world. All topical issues of
undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education are covered, including:
selection of entrants, teaching methods, assessment technique, curriculum
reform, and the training of medical teachers. The Journal provides a link
between the large number of bodies and individuals involved in medical
education throughout the world, and it seeks to ensure that changes are
made on the basis of informed decision.
Medical
Teacher
Medical Teacher is published by Taylor and Francis, part of the
Taylor & Francis Group and is available online. You can browse the
contents pages of online issues free of charge. Please note that, in order
to view the full text of online articles, you will need to follow the
steps listed in the link.
Medical Teacher addresses the needs of teachers and administrators throughout
the world involved in training for the health professions. This includes
courses at basic and post-basic levels as well as the increasingly important
area of continuing education. Medical Teacher provides accounts of new
teaching methods, guidance on structuring courses and assessing achievement,
and serves as a forum for communication between medical teachers and those
involved in general education. In particular, the journal recognizes the
problems teachers have in keeping up-to-date with the developments in
educational methods that lead to more effective teaching and learning
at a time when the content of the curriculum - from medical procedures
to policy changes in health care provision - is also changing. The journal
features reports of innovation and research in medical education, case
studies, survey articles, practical guidelines, reviews of current literature
and book reviews. All articles are peer reviewed.
Teaching
and Learning in Medicine
Teaching and Learning in Medicine (TLM) is an international forum
for scholarly state-of-the art research on the purposes and processes
of teaching and learning in the education of medical professionals. Its
international scope acknowledges the common challenge faced by all medical
teachers—fostering the acquisition and maintenance of usable knowledge
and skills in a broad, highly complex, and constantly changing clinical
science—and that a common base of theory and research will contribute
to meeting that challenge. Its articles address practical issues in the
conduct of medical education, as well as issues more basic to medical
education, and provide analysis and empirical research needed to facilitate
educational decision making by administrators, teachers, and learners.
Its scope includes all levels of medical education, from premedical to
postgraduate and continuing medical education.
Clinical
Anatomy
The goal of Clinical Anatomy is
to provide a medium for the exchange of current information between anatomists
and clinicians. The journal embraces anatomy in all its aspects - gross,
histologic, developmental, and neurologic - as applied to medical practice.
Furthermore, the journal assists physicians in keeping abreast of new
methodologies for patient management and informs educators of new developments
in clinical anatomy and teaching techniques.
Clinical Anatomy publishes original and review articles of scientific,
clinical, and educational interest. Papers covering the application of
anatomic principles to the solution of clinical problems and/or the application
of clinical observations to expand anatomic knowledge are welcomed.
Basic
Science Educator
The Basic Science Educator is the official peer-reviewed journal
of the International Association of Medical Science Educators. Issues
are published in February and August with hardcopies mailed to all IAMSE
members. The contents include a diversity of articles describing current
trends in medical science education; reports, critiques, and commentaries
on innovative teaching methods; letters, opinions, commentary, and debates
on timely topics of interest to medical science educators; educational
resources; and announcements of upcoming events of interest to teaching
faculty.
Academic
Medicine
Academic Medicine, the official journal of the Association of American
Medical Colleges, is the oldest English-language journal devoted to issues
related to the training of physicians. It was first published in 1926.
The journal serves as an international forum for the exchange of ideas
and information on policy, issues, and research concerning academic medicine,
including strengthening the quality of medical education and training,
enhancing the search for biomedical knowledge, advancing research in health
services, and integrating education and research into the provision of
health care. Academic Medicine publishes policy papers, analyses, essays,
research reports, and other materials covering the full range of issues
facing medical schools, teaching hospitals, academic societies, and health
policy agencies. Academic Medicine is a peer-reviewed, subscription journal
published monthly.
